Frequently Asked Questions

We have collated the following FAQ's below to help you plan your visit to The Verdon Guest House.

What is the earliest time we can check in and what time do we need to check out on the day of departure?

You can check in from 11am (if you need to check in earlier then that's fine - you can leave your luggage although you must be aware that your room may not have been cleaned by then).  We politely ask you to check out by 10am.  You can leave your keys in the key box situated in the hallway or hand them to the proprietor.

We will be staying out until quite late. Do we need a late key and do we have to be in by a certain time?

You do not need to be in by a certain time.  When you check in, you are given a set of keys to the front door and to the room you are staying in.  The front door is not bolted late at night so you can come and go as you please.  Please remember to respect other guests by keeping the noise at lower levels.

Do you have off street, private parking?

Yes.  We have space for about 10 cars.  We have parking space at the front and rear of the house (down the narrow entry towards the back of the house).  If the car park is full, there is street parking and a multi-storey car park in the next street.

How far is the guesthouse from Stoke on Trent railway station?

It is approx a 20 minute walk or a short ride in a taxi.  A taxi from the train station to the Verdon Guest House costs approximately £4 (please note that this varies slightly between different taxi firms). There are always plenty of taxis outside the station (the taxi rank is located on the left as you exit the station).

How far is the guesthouse from the Regent Theatre and Victoria Hall?

The Regent Theatre is approximately a five minute walk. The Victoria Hall is only a two minute walk.  Maps for directions are located in the hallway - please help yourself to one.

How far is the guesthouse from Trentham Gardens?

It is approximately a 10/15 minute drive.  Just head for the A500 and follow signs to Trentham. Again maps for directions are located in the hallway for you to help yourself.

Are dogs allowed?

Yes we allow well trained dogs to stay in allocated rooms. Dogs are free of charge. Breakfast is not included except for the odd sausage!

Do you offer evening meals?

No, this is not necessary since the guesthouse is in a central town location close to many restaurants, cafes, pubs and takeaways. There are numerous menus displayed in the hallway of the guesthouse. You can order a takeaway to be delivered to your room if you prefer- please remember to listen out for the door when the delivery man comes!  Each room has plates and cutlery provided.

Are special diets catered for?

Yes. Please specify the type of breakfast required when making the booking.

Is VAT included in the price?

Yes. VAT is included in the price and there are no hidden extras.

Is the guesthouse suitable for the disabled?

Yes. The guesthouse has a category 2 rating suitable for an accompanied traveller. Two rooms are allocated for wheelchair use. There is a large front door step.
